Tierra Whack is the musician in the Apple Mini commercial, which was published on YouTube as a short story to promote not only the product, but also her music.
In November 2020, Apple released the commercial for the Apple Mini speaker, featuring American rapper, singer and songwriter, Tierra Whack. While the commercial was initially made available for television viewing, the brand subsequently released the two-minute-long commercial on YouTube.
The enlisting of Tierra Whack for the commercial was the continuation of her successes and achievements in 2020. Despite there being a pandemic, she managed to be part of two major deals in that year. First, was her feature in Disney’s Black Is King, executive produced by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. She also featured on the female-empowerment anthem, My Power, featuring South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly, Busiswa and DJ Jag, and Nigeria’s Yemi Alade.
Thereafter, she featured in the Apple Mini commercial. The commercial introduced the world to Tierra Whack the content creator. Should one visit the Whack World musician’s Instagram feed, it becomes clearer that the commercial was imbued with her aesthetic and creative inclination. Her Instagram is playful and showcases her other talents, other than her musicality, which might come as a surprise to some.
The Apple Mini commercial starts with Tierra Whack walking home while listening to music through her earpods. When she arrives home, she requests Siri to play the music loaded on her Apple speaker, which Siri does, but the music is just as loud on the Apple Mini speaker.
A mini Tierra Whack is then introduced, and the rest of the commercial descends into a whimsical Alice In Wonderland-themed world that occurs in her small living room. During the transformation of the space, the musician and her mini version also transform into versions of the Mad Hatter.
