Robert Pattinson as the new Batman - I’m not convinced

The Batman franchise has shared the first visual of Robert Pattinson as Batman, however, I’m not sure if I believe that he is the right man for the role.

My issue with Robert Pattinson assuming the role of Batman is not necessarily that I believe that he is incapable of doing the role justice, it is that he is being type-cast. What is Robert most known for? Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter franchise and Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. Other than that, most average movie watchers are unaware of other independent films he has been a part of.

With him being type-cast, he is always taking on roles as a supernatural being with extraordinary powers, who is tasked with saving someone or something. His role in 2010’s Remember Me was a refreshing reminder that if you take away all the antics of glorifying him as a protagonist that girls swoon over, he is a very talented actor indeed.

In my opinion, tasking Robert with the role of Batman is setting him up for failure. Batman is one of the most iconic characters in the DC franchise, and the role was previously assumed by Ben Affleck, Christian Bale and many other legendary actors. Robert’s performance will have to be out of this world in order for him to viewed separate from his previous characters and his predecessors.
