Prince Kaybee shares footage from Gugulethu music video shoot
Prince Kaybee was in Gugulethu township, Cape Town, shooting the music video for his hit single, Gugulethu, and shared footage from the first two days on social media.
Prince Kaybee shared that he was flying to Cape Town on Sunday, 12 May 2019 through his Twitter page when he posted an emoticon of an airplane, writing ‘Cape Town’ with the hashtag #GugulethuMusicVideo. The tweet, with over 400 likes, let his followers know that the DJ was soon to land in the city to shoot the music video for the single off his latest album Re Mmino. The single features Indlovukazi, Afro Brothers and YFM’s Supta.
On Monday, 13 May 2019, the artist shared the first behind-the-scenes clip of the making of the music video. The clip shows a camera man in a red vintage BMW shooting a drag car driver while he spins the car in front of a crowd, also recording the event from outside the car.
The video clip received over 350 retweets and over 2 000 likes. Prince Kaybee continued to share insight into the making of the music video on Tuesday, 14 May 2019, when he posted footage from the second day of the music video shoot.
The clip, which has been muted of its original sound and plays the introduction of Gugulethu, shows the director of the video speaking to the extras in the music video. Using his camera and hand gestures, he explains what he needs them to do and what the camera is trying to capture while Prince Kaybee stands on the sidelines, listening in on the conversation.
The music video’s official release date is yet to be announced.
