Liberty Mutual’s series of newly published commercials see the return of the company’s mascots, LiMu Emu and Doug, marking their first appearance since September 2020.
Liberty Mutual Insurance published its latest series of commercials on Monday, 1 February 2021, marking the return of the insurance company’s mascots, LiMu Emu and Doug. The last time the two featured in a Liberty Mutual commercial was in September 2020.
The last edition of the 2020 commercials was a compilation of some of the most memorable commercials of the two from the year. The montage featured the time when the two went to the beach and enjoyed various activities together. Moreover, it also made use of scenes from when LiMu Emu and Doug went on a stakeout, which showcased LiMu Emu’s short attention span and Doug’s comical clumsiness.
The two were introduced as Liberty Mutuals’ dynamic duo in 2019, and have since become synonymous with the insurance company. Speaking on the introduction of LiMU Emu and Doug, Liberty Mutual noted, “The fictional dynamic duo [is] passionate about saving people from overpaying for one-size-fits-all insurance. The creative content was developed by Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P), Liberty Mutual’s creative agency of record.”
In the new series of commercials, the two reunite via video call, in light of the global pandemic. The first commercial shared was of Doug exploring his filters to find one to make him look like LiMu Emu. However, the results thereof were disastrous, as LiMu Emu was convinced that his best friend had turned into an emu himself.
The insurance company then used the initial 30-second commercial to create shorter clips. The 15-second commercial is of the last filters that Doug used before discovering the emu filter.
