Jessie Reyez presents compelling narrative in INTRUDERS music video

Jessie Reyez INTRUDERS music video

Jessie Reyez has released the INTRUDERS music video, off her sophomore album BEFORE LOVE TO CAME KILL US, delivering visuals believed to be inspired by the current socio-political climate.

Jessie Reyez released the music video for INTRUDERS on Friday, 19 June 2020. This is despite the soulful musician having chosen and released her new single, COFFIN, and actively promoted it on social media.

The decision to release the INTRUDERS music video instead made sense because of its subject matter and narrative. The compelling purely R&B single contains themes which some believe mirror the current socio-political climate of the world.

Jessie Reyez conceptualised the music video which was directed and animated by Solis Animation. It references Pocahontas in its narrative, but also borrows from colonial history. However, the narrative is then turned on its head when the music video shifts to a tragic love story between lovers.
