A brand ambassador, also popularly known as an influencer, is someone who represents a company both online and in person. Brands are usually looking to hire people with values that align with the company’s values, and someone who will appeal to the public by personifying the brand’s identity.
With social media and the internet becoming such an everyday activity in people’s lives, brand ambassador jobs are becoming more familiar, as they reach wider people than traditional advertising methods. A brand ambassador is typically someone with a substantial following who can advertise the products of a company on their social media platforms.
The main aim of brand ambassadors is for companies to have an agent that connects them with their customer base. Brand ambassadors usually spread awareness through word of mouth, instead of direct marketing. According to a report, 74 percent of consumers consider word of mouth to be a critical influencer in their purchasing decisions.
According to a study conducted in December 2019, the average salary of a brand ambassador ranges from $20,000 to $58,000 a year, with an average of $17.00 an hour. Every company pays differently, with some paying hourly while others pay through commission.
Furthermore, brand influencers also have the option of charging for each post that they post on their social media pages. A study conducted in 2020 reported that influencer, Alexa Collins, who has over one million followers on Instagram, charges over $1,000 for a sponsored story. On the other hand, a micro influencer, which is someone that does not have more than 100,000 followers, usually charges from $100. These numbers all depend on the content and deliverables.
Lastly, whether being a brand influencer is one’s full-time job or a side hustle, it does come with some serious money.
